Electrical Inspection and Testing in Cumbria

  • Are you having electrical problems?
  • Is the wiring in your house old or does it look dangerous?
  • Are you buying, selling or renting a house?
  • Are you a landlord or letting agent?

Then you should consider one of these:

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

[formerly known as a Periodic Inspection Report (PIR)]

electrical inspection electrical testing

The purpose of a periodic inspection is to assess the condition and safety of an electrical installation with respect to the 18th Edition of the Electrical Regulations (BS7671); to report any deficiencies, hazards or dangers; and to suggest improvements and remedial work, such that the installation may continue to be used safely.

Because electrical installations are subject to wear and tear, deteriorate with age and use, they should be tested regularly to ensure safety and to protect against fire, electric shock and burns.

Privately owned domestic properties should be tested every 10 years, or with each change of owner; rental domestic properties every 5 years, or with each change of tenant.

Landlords should be aware that, although it is not compulsory to have your properties tested, as with gas certificates, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 do apply and, should a serious injury or death occur on your premises, the HSE will investigate and prosecute. For peace of mind and tenant’s safety you should seriously consider regular inspection and testing.

Our periodic inspections are thorough and rigorous. Typically, we would spend 3-4 hours at an average sized property, then a further 2 hours writing the report and quote for remedial work. On completion you will receive a 10 page report, complete with a schedule of test results, detailed observations and an itemised quote for any necessary remedial work.
